Finally Done

Well I finally got my "correctly spelled journals" finished and they are sent! I have spent the last 2 1/2 days working on them and I have to say I really enjoyed doing them. I am sick and concentrating on the journals just made me feel good. Here they are.......

My correctly spelled Journals
I have to say I did a yellow and an orange one for the first time and I kind of like them. I am now going to have a nap.

Have a great day!

Made a Big Mistake

Well last night my good friend informed that I had spelled 'Mourne' wrong and she was right. It was suppose to be Morne. My husband didn't even pick this up. Thank you so much V.

So I am now redoing the journals. Dummy me but that is life ......we all make mistakes and just have to accept it and move on.

Long Time

It has been a long time since my last blog. I did 10 faux journals and a class at the Paperie given by Sara Case Strickland. As usual I didn't finish mine.....hope to get it done the week....but did a lot of interesting techniques. If you can ever do a class with Sara ....do one and you will learn a lot!

Beside being busy I was also  "Menopausal". My poor hubby had to put up with a crazy women for 4 days. Feeling much better and now I am ready to get some things done! I plan to get a picture started and finish my mini album from class. Will have to see how it goes.

Oh Yeah I am also gutting my craft room and reorganizing my sewing room. Very ambitious but at least I have a plan. Hubby away till early Friday morning and since he vacuumed the whole house not much housework to do just feed Matt. Will have to see at end of week what has happened.

Hope you had a great day!

A Technique I Tried

I have been trying some techniques from Julie Fei Fan Balzer Technique-A- Palooza Class Here is one I really like is Elmer's Glue resist......

Elmer's Glue, Craft Tags and Watercolour Paints
Here is what you need Elmer's White GlueCraft Tags andWatercolour Paints. To do this technique you draw on the tag using the Elmer's Glue like a pen. When drawing with the glue keep the tip up of the paper and draw letting the glue flow.

This is what I drew. You need to let the glue dry completely. When it dries it the dries clear and you get something like this.....

You can just pick out the design I drew.

I coloured the tag with watercolour paints and let it dry. When the paint was dry I wiped over the glue design with a damp cloth and the result was this tag.

Give it a try! I enjoyed doing this technique and as you can see I tried it again. Wrote Snowy Day on a piece of cardstock than I painted it, stamped it with white Snowflakes, cut it out and distressed the edges. Hope to use it on a  layout or keep it until I find a use.

Have Fun!!

The Other Side Of Me

Beside my love of creating with paints, pattern papers, pastel, crayons, polymer clay and anything else I can find  I also love to quilt.
I am the Quilt Coordinator for The Ronald MacDonald House Newfoundland Labrador.

Here is my latest quilt.....

Baby Appliqué Quilt

It is a baby quilt for a friend's daughter ..... She had a boy.

I have also made Memory quilts and in these I  used wire, polymer and anything else that would help me tell a story.

The first Memory quilt I made was in memory of my daughter Michelle and it now hangs in the Lobby of Paradise Elementary which is where all my children went.

Michelle's Quilt

Michelle is the angel with pink hair. When she was sick she always coloured her and at one time she did colour it pink. The cats were hers and we got them when she first got sick, we still have them. All around the outside of the quilt I used polymer clay and a mould to make school buses, books, schoolhouses, chalkboard and apples. In the books I wrote the names of all the teachers she had at the school. On the chalkboard I wrote 'In memory of Michelle Dinn from The Dinn Family'. Michelle's school pictures were put in the stars. Her grade5 picture is not there because she hated it. Her name is made out of polymer clay. Since the quilt would be hanging in the school we got it framed.

I also made a quilt for a teacher I worked with at Holy Family School, another elementary school in Paradise, when she retired.
Carmel's Quilt

This quilt represents the last year we worked together. I did a lot of embroidery and appliquéing  on this quilt.

The largest hanging quilt I made was for the Library at Holy Family School, it is 60 inches by 60 inches.

Our Quilted Library

This quilt is based on the Dewey Decimal System. I made it so the children would be able to look at it and ask questions about the pictures.

I am now making 2 quilts for Ronald McDonald House Newfoundland Labrador.

Journal Day Five

I did this entry at 7:30 am. My dog woke me up at 5:30 and I could not get back to sleep so I got up and did my journal entry. I was hoping to get this posted earlier but I am working in slow motion so it has taken me all day.

Echo trying to decide how to get back into house

Emily is my one of my cats and she always trying to get out even though she has been a house cat for her 14 years. If the door is open she tries to get out except now...........

Journal Day Two

Day Two of my Art Journal is done and much earlier than yesterday.
In this online class Julie gives ideas as to other products you can use. I am really enjoying this freedom of doing what I want because as anyone who knows me this is what I love to do.

- Day Two
On todays journal entry I finally used my Save the Date gel-a-tins for todays date. I added my version of a clock in the empty space using Copic Markers and on the other page I stamped with a Script Stamp  and Gold Stazon Ink.

Journal Day One

I am following Julie Fei Fan Balzer 30 Days In Your Journal.  It looks like it will be fun!

I have got Day One done a few minutes late but I got it done. I painted the two pages with Watercolour Paints and left a clear area where I plan to put something  but not sure yet, will decide tomorrow. Using a Black PITT Pen I wrote the date and my journaling for the day.

Day One
Busy day today snow-blowing. Hey, it was exhausting my legs are aching and I am tired but it made me feel good!

Snow-Blowing

Art Journaling Here I Come!!!

I plan to start art journaling tomorrow and do one double page everyday.

So I got everything I need to start my art journaling but had difficulty finding a watercolour journal I like, so I made one.

- my journal

I found watercolour paper 12 inches x 18 inches and I only had to cut it once. I scored the paper at 8.5 inches, 9 inches and 9.5 inches and folded it.

- folded watercolour paper
To make this book I stitched 15 folded pages together and using Scor-Tape and Sticky-Back Canvas I made a binding.

- Journal stitched
-Journal bound

I added chipboard for the cover and attached using sticky-back canvas am now ready to go so hopefully I will have  my first entry done tomorrow.
